2017 was an exceptionally variable year that included record setting winter rain, heat waves, and the occasional perfect weather in between. This wine was made from a couple of old blocks at the Wirz vineyard, in Cienega Valley. The blocks we're planted between 1903 and the 1920's, and is mostly Zinfandel, with some Cabernet Pfeffer, Rosa del Perù/Mission, Carignane, Orange Muscat, and of course we added a little Riesling. The wine underwent a carbonic fermentation in tank for a few weeks before being pressed and finishing fermentation in barrel. Bottled unfined, unfiltered, and unsulfured.
